Playing Pinventure safely

Read this before you play or create a hunt. It's part of our Terms of Service.

Pinventure is a real-world game. It sends you outside to actual locations -- on foot, by bike, by car, or however you get around -- which means real traffic, real terrain, and real weather. Nobody at Pinventure is watching over you while you play. Your safety is in your hands, every time.

Read the safety notes before every hunt

Each time you start, replay, or resume a hunt, Pinventure shows safety notes for that hunt -- things like nearby roads, water, or uneven ground. They're generated automatically from the hunt's content, so they only cover some likely hazards, not every one. Treat them as a heads-up, not a guarantee.

Stay aware of your surroundings

Keep your eyes up. Don't stare at your phone while crossing streets, walking near traffic, or navigating stairs and uneven ground.
Never use Pinventure while driving. If you're in a car, pull over and stop completely before checking a clue.
Check the weather and dress for it. If conditions turn unsafe -- storms, extreme heat, ice -- stop playing and get somewhere safe.
Play with a friend where you can, especially at night or in unfamiliar areas, and let someone know roughly where you'll be.

Respect property and the law

Only go where you're allowed to be. Never trespass on private property, climb fences, or enter restricted or hazardous areas to reach a riddle.
Follow local laws, park rules, and posted signage at all times -- Pinventure doesn't override any of them.
If a riddle leads somewhere that looks unsafe, closed, or off-limits, don't force it -- skip it and report the hunt to us (see below).

Kids and families

Pinventure requires everyone to confirm they're at least 13 to sign up, and anyone under 18 confirms they have a parent or guardian's permission -- but we don't independently verify anyone's age. A responsible adult should always supervise children playing Pinventure, the same way you would for any outdoor activity in public. Don't treat Pinventure as something a child should do unsupervised, even if a hunt looks "kid-friendly."

If you're creating a hunt

As a hunt creator, you're choosing where other people will physically go. Please:

Only place riddles in locations that are public, legal to access, and reasonably safe to reach, however players choose to get there.
Avoid locations near fast-moving traffic, unstable terrain, water hazards, or restricted areas.
Use your hunt's description to flag anything players should know in advance (e.g. uneven trails, limited lighting, stairs).
Remember that people of all ages and abilities might attempt your hunt.

Use Pinventure at your own risk

We review public hunts before they go live, but we can't visit every location in person, and we don't verify or guarantee the safety of any hunt, riddle, or location -- whether it was built by us or another player. Participating in a hunt, or creating one, is entirely at your own risk. See the Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability sections of our Terms of Service for the full legal terms.

In an emergency

Pinventure is a game, not an emergency or safety service. If you or someone nearby is in danger, stop playing immediately and contact your local emergency services (e.g. 911 in the US, 999 in the UK, 112 across the EU, 000 in Australia).

Report a concern

If you come across a hunt or riddle that feels unsafe, inappropriate, or leads somewhere it shouldn't, tell us at hello@pinventure.app -- include the hunt name if you can. We review every report.
