Terms of Service

The short version. Pinventure sends you to real places, so your safety is your responsibility -- play carefully and legally. Treasure is just for fun and has no cash value. Paid purchases go through Apple or Google. Nothing here takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Pinventure mobile app, the creator portal, and this website (together, the "Service"), operated by the trustee for the Filipe Family Trust (ABN 47 914 563 601), trading as Pinventure ("Pinventure," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Pinventure. If you're under 18, you confirm you have a parent or guardian's permission to use the Service, and they agree to these Terms on your behalf. We rely on your confirmation of this at sign-up -- we don't independently verify age.

2. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your account secure and for everything that happens under it. Give accurate information when you sign up, and choose a display name that isn't offensive or misleading. One account per person -- don't create accounts to impersonate someone or to get around a restriction we've placed on another account.

3. Real-world activity and safety

Pinventure sends you to real-world locations to solve riddles. You are solely responsible for your own safety while playing -- including your surroundings, traffic, terrain, weather, and whether a location is safe and legal to enter. Read our Safety page before you play or create a hunt; it forms part of these Terms. Before each hunt, the app shows safety notes for that hunt. They're generated automatically (with AI assistance) from the hunt's content, cover only some likely hazards, and are not a guarantee that a hunt is safe. Never use Pinventure while driving. Adults are responsible for supervising any child using the Service.

4. Content you create

You keep ownership of the hunts, riddles, hints, images, ratings, and comments you create. You grant Pinventure a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, adapt, and distribute that content to operate and promote the Service (for example, showing your public hunt to players). You're responsible for having the right to post what you upload, and for making sure every riddle location is legal, public, and reasonably safe to visit.

Public hunts are reviewed before they go live. We may review, moderate, edit, or remove any content at our discretion, and we may add safety notes to a hunt. Content that breaks these Terms can result in a strike on your account; repeated strikes can lose you the ability to create hunts, or your account.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Break the law, trespass, or encourage others to, while creating or playing a hunt;
Harass or threaten anyone, or post hateful, obscene, or abusive content in hunts, hints, comments, or images;
Cheat -- including faking your location, exploiting bugs, or using automated tools to solve riddles, earn treasure, or watch ads;
Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone;
Interfere with the Service's normal operation (for example, scraping, reverse-engineering, or denial-of-service attempts).

6. Treasure and in-app rewards

Treasure (also called coins) is a virtual in-game currency you earn by playing. It has no monetary value, can't be bought, and can't be sold, transferred, or exchanged for money or anything outside the Service. You can spend it in the app -- for example, to reveal a hint (the treasure goes to that hunt's creator) or to feature a hunt you created. We may adjust balances to correct errors or reverse cheating, and treasure ends when your account is deleted.

On public hunts you can choose to watch a video ad in exchange for a reward, such as a free hint or an hour without ads. A reward is granted once our ad partner confirms you finished the video. Videos aren't always available, and rewards have no cash value.

7. Purchases and subscriptions

Pinventure offers an optional ad-removal subscription, and optional one-time participant-tier purchases that let hunt creators host larger private or team hunts. Prices are shown in the app and charged by the Apple App Store or Google Play at the time of purchase.

The ad-removal subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. You can manage or cancel it at any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
Each participant-tier purchase applies to the single hunt you buy it for, and can't be moved to another hunt.
Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies. This doesn't limit any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law (see section 10).

8. Advertising

Free-tier players see ads on public hunts. Private and team hunts never show ads. Ads are provided by third parties, and we're not responsible for their content or for anything you buy from an advertiser.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. HUNTS ARE CREATED BY PLAYERS AS WELL AS BY US, AND WE DON'T WARRANT THAT ANY HUNT OR LOCATION IS SAFE, ACCESSIBLE, OR LEGAL TO VISIT, THAT SAFETY NOTES ARE COMPLETE OR ACCURATE, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PINVENTURE AND ITS OPERATORS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INJURY, DEATH, PROPERTY DAMAGE, OR OTHER LOSS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE -- INCLUDING FROM PARTICIPATING IN OR CREATING A HUNT -- WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE'VE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or any other law that can't lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. Where our liability can lawfully be limited rather than excluded, it's limited, at our option, to supplying the Service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.

11. Ending your account

You can stop using Pinventure and delete your account at any time from Profile → Security → Delete account, or by emailing hello@pinventure.app. See our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, or if we need to in order to protect other players or comply with the law.

12. Governing law

These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or the Service, are governed by the laws of Tasmania, Australia. You and Pinventure each submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tasmania, Australia, and any courts entitled to hear appeals from those courts.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
